Ma-Yi Theater Company and 2g Productions are presenting a reading of my Lehrstück Always Eat the Food as part of a culmination of my residency with Ma-Yi through CRNY’s Artist Employment Program. Food will be provided and the event will feature a panel with grassroots organizers from across NYC.
A landlord. An organizer. All the tenants. Based on my conversation with organizers Rima Begum and Whitney Hu and the real-life Bangladeshi Tenants Union, Always Eat the Food follows the forming of a tenants union against a predatory real estate company.
